SELF CARE ISN'T JUST FOR SUNDAYS: TIPS FOR A BETTER YOU

Seriously who decided it was only Sundays? Self Care is not a "once a week" thing. Self care is a lifestyle that needs to be incorporated regularly.

Whether your are lonely from quarantine or you are feeling down from just getting rid of that F*CKb@Y🤮... we all have those days where we need to just focus on our selves.

These are some of our helpful Self Care tips that will get you well on your way to the best *version* of yourself.

*DISCONNECT*

I find that the largest part of my anxiety comes from my phone. who texted, who didn't, who called, whats on IG... and the best way to get a sigh of relief is to just disconnect. I don't expect to have my phone off ALL day, but at least 4 hours during the day and always on DO NOT DISTURB at night.

Disconnecting really gives you a moment to feel separated from the outside world and into your own. I utilize this time to meditate, read, or exercise. It's also really important to take long social media breaks. We need to stop investing so much extra time on electronics and see the world as it is, in real time. So be sure to incorporate time to smell and feel nature, this is a great time to go for a nice walk or a hike.

*STAYING ACTIVE*

The best way to help with mental health and clarity is to add some physical activity. Working out bumps up the production of your brains feel-good neurotransmitters that are called endorphins.Regular exercise has been known to increase your mood, reduce stress, and limit anxiety.

I especially enjoy taking out any aggression in the gym... really pushing my body to its limit makes me feel so much better. ALSO - a tone body is always a plus :)

*NEW HOBBIES*

Consider learning a new language or perfecting your current one. Proper grammar/language are vital and important in everyday life.

Perhaps take the time to learn a new instrument. I am currently learning the piano and studying more about fine art history. Even though I don't plan to be a pianist or an art dealer, I can still contribute to conversations about the subject and be much more fascinating and cultured. Its always about growing and utilizing the tools you have learned

*SKIN-TOX*:

And take the extra time to do allllllllllll those skin care steps in your skincare routine.

I love skin care and making a whole thing of it. From the steamer, to the mask, the steps... ugh I love all of it! It is also so easy to create the same ambiance from the spa and in your home.

Grab a diffuser and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Each have different relaxing or rejuvenating properties:

lavender - used to relieve stress

sandalwood: used to calm nerves and help with focus

rose: used to improve mood & reduce anxiety

peppermint: used to boost energy

Moving on to the skin-to part of it all, I always love to exfoliate my skin or add a rebalancing face mask. My absolute favorite face mask is masque vivant by biologique recherche. i actually plan to do an in-depth blog post about skin care so *stay tuned* but what I can say about this product is.... WOW. I have tried so many different masks and this one has just given me instant results.

It purifies, brightens, tones, and refreshes the complexion. I use this 1-2x a week and it does wonders.

moving to lip masks... we all know that the Laneige water sleeping mask is the GOAT! Its so good that I also use it in the day time. It really just leaves my lips so soft and plump! This is especially necessary with the current cold climate. The smell is also to DIE for.

*MEDITATE*

I always make it a priority to start every day and every night with meditation and affirmations. This really helps rebalance and center me . I have a whole playlist of different affirmations, sounds, and frequencies. The solfeggio frequencies, which are part of the olden six-tone scale believed to have incorporated sacred music, are known to have many healing and calming effects. Researchers claim that they feel calmer, happier and more relaxed when playing and listening at 432 Hz.

*NETFLIX & CHILL WITH YOURSELF*

This is my absolute favorite thing to do! ...even though it takes me about 45 minutes to decide what I want to order on UBEREATS...and then another 20 minutes deciding on what to watch...😅

My current favs are: RHOM, Euphoria, Emily in Paris... watch SUCCESSION (I'm already done but omg the best show ever) and also I love watching documentaries. I am a total nerd for current events and history so VOX has some amazing ones on youtube that are short, engaging, and very educational.

I really hope you take some time to try these tips out and be on the journey of your better self.

Never apologize for taking care of yourself ❤️
